Calpe
The bay in which Calpe sits, is marked on the West by El Morro del Toix and on the East by the Penon De Ifach. It is a naturally privileged position in terms of climate and scenery and this, together with a tourist infrastructure, makes Calpe one of the most visited areas of the Costa Blanca. The ‘Ifach’ has a height of 625m and, exuding the arrogance of naked rock, is a place of breath-taking beauty. From the top on a clear day, you can see other coastal towns and, if you’re lucky, the island of Ibiza.
Calpe boasts 13 kilometres of silken coast, studded by pretty coves. All this in the fantastic Mediterranean climate which swells the grain fields, almond groves and vineyards.
Penon De Ifach – Calpe
The town, which was fortified in the Middle Ages, still preserves reminders of its past There is a fishing harbour and dockyard used for boat-building. As with all towns in the Costa Blanca, Calpe comes out in style from the 1st August onwards in honour La Virgen de las Nieves. Religious Ceremonies, bulls, dancing in the streets and fireworks are the main features of this summer festivity. There are also fiestas in October to honour Cristo Del Sudor together with the Moors and Christians. The festivals of San Juan and La Virgen del Carmen are also celebrated with revelry.
Calpe offers two ‘Blue Flag’ beaches noted for their fine sand. These are cleaned daily throughout the season to ensure safe playing for children and sunbathing for adults! There is a wide choice of international cuisine along both beaches and in town itself.
