Costa Blanca South
Algorfa is a traditional lively Spanish town with warm friendly local people. The village square is the hub of activity with several Spanish tapas bars, Town Hall, Church, Banks, Pharmacy and Supermarkets. Walking distance is La Finca Golf Course and a 10 minute drive to the stunning beach of Guardamar. A 35 minute drive to Alicante airport.
Cabo Roig peninsula is known for its broad palm-lined avenues, landscaped gardens and stunning beaches. The restaurants, bars, and shops within the town cater for a wide range of tastes and budgets. Cabo Roig has two sandy white beaches, La Caleta next to the Marina and Cala Capitan on the other side of the Cape which have both been awarded Blue Flags. Cabo Roig is an excellent location for golfers, being close to many fine championship courses including the three Villamartin courses. Cabo Roig can be found 10 kilometres to the south of Torrevieja. The delightful town of old Cabo Roig has broad avenues lined with palms and landscaped gardens with views of the Mediterranean to the La Manga peninsula and the Mar Menor providing a picturesque setting alongside the lovely beaches. The world famous La Manga golf complex is also within easy reach. 25 Minutes to Murcia airport or 40 minutes to Alicante airport.
Campoamor is an excellent location for people who want to appreciate an element of real Spanish culture. The stunning scenery, green woodland and beautiful beaches make Campoamor one of the most popular areas on the Costa Blanca. Located south of Alicante off the A-7 on the way down towards the Mar Menor; the nearest large city is Torrevieja, at 6 km away, 20 minute drive to the Airport at San Javier and 40 minutes to the international airport of Alicante.
Dehesa de Campoamor is the most southerly area within the Orihuela Costa. It has a beautiful long sandy beach, at one end of which is a picturesque marina and club house. It is the starting point for the Orihuela Costa Coastal Walk and the Aguamarina Natural Coastal Park forms part of its coastline. Three golf courses are situated in the area; Dehesa de Campoamor, Las Colinas and Las Ramblas.
Elche in between Alicante and Guardamar, home to the largest palm tree forest in Europe – a wonderful sight. Famous for its parks and locally produced leather footwear, Elche blends traditional Spain with a modern infrastructure and air-conditioned indoor shopping centres.
Guardamar between Santa Pola and Torrevieja, Guardamar del Segura is approximately 45 minutes drive from the international airport of Alicante. The resort town has been developed directly on the beach. Inland towns and villages are easily accessible with the excellent local road network. Guardamar and La Mata are found on the coast boasting over 20 kms of white sandy beaches for you to enjoy. The town of Guardamar is also well known for its seafood and boasts an abundance of local restaurants, catering for all tastes, as well as excellent shopping and leisure facilities much of the area is a nature reserve, ideal for walking or cycling,Guardamar del Segura sits at the mouth of the River Segura and offers several miles of sandy beaches set against a backdrop of palm groves.
La Mata is a traditional seaside village which has managed to retain a lot of its charm and character. The square is at the heart of the village and is easily recognised by the round watch tower beside the sea. A lovely variety of bars, cafes and restaurants are to be found in the village and also along the beach. Not only can you relax on the beach but you can also stroll along the wooden walkway south to Torrevieja, walk along the beach north to Guardamar.
La Marina is a small coastal village on the Costa Blanca, located between Santa Pola and Alicante to the north, Guardamar and Torrevieja to the south. La Marina is approximately 30 minutes drive from Alicante airport.The village has a range of shops, bars, banks etc. and has a regular bus service north and south along the coast. The area boasts an exceptionally attractive coastal landscape for tourists. The bathing season starts in spring and lasts until autumn. The natural environment combines great expanses of beach with spectacular rolling dunes; the conditions are perfect for the abundance of rare flora and fauna, which exist here in abundance. The area is a nature lovers paradise.
La Zenia a popular seaside town with its own Blue Flag beach and excellent access to the motorway network and the coast road, it is ideally situated for exploring the rest of the Costa Blanca – the fascinating historical cities of Murcia, Cartagena and Alicante are all within easy reach. La Zenia has a good selection of amenities: a good selection of bars and restaurants, a pharmacy, bank, supermarkets, La Zenia Boulevard, the largest shopping mall in Europe, with over 150 shops, bars, restaurant's and free parking. With stunning Blue Flag beaches at La Zenia: Cala Del Bosque and Cala Cecrad. There are three superb golf courses nearby: Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas. Murcia Airport is a 20 minute drive and Alicante Airport is a 45 minute drive.
Los Altos a suburb of Torrevieja, about 5kms away from the lively town centre. There is a large supermarket within walking distance, shops, bars and restaurants. Torrevieja has long been popular with British buyers and offers countless places to eat, three excellent hospitals, health centres, dentists, vets, schools, a multiscreen cinema, a theatre, two water parks and a vast range of sports facilities. Golf enthusiasts are well catered for with several championship golf courses nearby. Los Altos is just 30 minutes from Alicante airport.
Los Balcones is a thriving residential urbanisation and community situated just 3 km south of the huge town of Torrevieja on the Southern Costa Blanca (on the Orihuela Costa) right next to the large Torrevieja salt water lake. Los Balcones has its own facilities close by at the Filton shopping centre with amenities such as shops, banks, supermarkets (Carrefour), opticians etc. You can get to Torrevieja from Los Balcones urbanisation by the local bus service or local taxi service. Towns with beaches close to Los Balcones are Punta Prima just 5 minutes drive away, La Mata, Playa Flamenca, Torrevieja, La Zenia and Cabo Roig. The three championship courses of Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas are within a 20 minutes drive. Alicante airport is about a 45 minute drive or Murcia’s San Javier International airport is 20 minutes.
Los Dolses is a part of Villamartin and offers a thriving Centro commercial with a choice of cafes, bars and shops, and is only a 5 minute drive, or 10 minute walk to the new La Zenia Boulevard shopping mall, and is within walking distance to the well known Villamartin plaza and golf club. Stunning local beaches such as those at La Zenia are only 10 minutes away.
Los Montesinos a busy village with a large and modern church square and a long high street. There are many bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from, a small street market on a Friday evening, an open air municipal swimming pool, the Jardín Botánico 30 De Julio Park and a Music Auditorium. There is a marked walking route called the Ruta Salada, the shores of the pink lagoon to explore and the old railway line to cycle or walk along all the way to the beaches of Torrevieja.
Orihuela municipality covering an area of 365 km2 and is the historical capital of the Vega Baja. The region can be split into three distinct zones; the surrounding countryside and the La Pedrera Reservoir, the coastal area known as the Orihuela Costa and the city itself. The historical centre of Orihuela is packed with museums and religious buildings. Visit the tourist office for a free map and an up to date list of the museums with their prices and opening times. Even if you are not a museum lover, Orihuela is still worth a visit. Pop into the Casino with its beautiful tiled patio or see a concert or play at the Teatro Circo, enjoy a walk beside the Rio Segura which runs through the middle of the city
Playa Flamenca one of several areas within the Orihuela Costa. It is a very popular destination with a large seafront plaza and a fine sandy beach, rocky coves, cliffs and great views. It is one of the starting and stopping points on the Orihuela Costa coastal walking route as well as having the CDM Orihuela Costa municipal sports centre, which has an indoor swimming pool, a selection of courts, a running track and a couple of 7-a-side football pitches. Playa Flamenca has many commercial centres offering a selection of shops and places to eat, a helpful tourist office and the Saturday morning market is one of the largest and busiest in the area.
Punta Prima the most northerly point within the Orihuela Costa. It has a blue flag beach which has an extensive promenade of 1200 meters, boasting plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants to enjoy. The Commercial Centre La Campanas in Punta Prima has a variety of shops, cafes and a supermarket or the new shopping center La Zenia Boulevard and the shopping center La Mosca are close by. The bustling resort of Torrevieja is virtually next door at 5kms away. San Javier airport in Murcia is just 22 minutes by road while Alicante airport is 40 minutes.
Quesada located approximately 8 kilometres inland from the Costa Blanca at Guardamar de la Segura, set on a south-facing hillside giving you panoramic views over sea, lakes and mountains. Alicante and Murcia airports are both a 20 minute drive away and the nearest beach is within a 10 minute drive. The town centre of Ciudad Quesada is well provided with shops, bars, restaurants, a golf course and its own water park. Ciudad Quesada is part of Rojales and includes the urbanisations of Pueblo Lucero, Doña Pepa, Pueblo Bravo and Lo Pepín. It is very popular with ex pats from all over Europe, and is instantly recognisable by the grand entrance known as the Quesada Arches. It has a large square, a town hall, free municipal tennis courts and the Parque Recorral which has picnics benches and many unmarked walking and cycling routes. The high street is full of bars, cafes and restaurants, which offer international food including Spanish, Thai, Indian, Italian, French, Greek and Chinese. It is a real hub and is especially busy in the mornings with people wandering around the shops and enjoying coffees. QuesThis friendly residential village has all the services required for daily life.
Rojales this quaint traditional village adjoining Quesada where you can enjoy Spanish fiestas, paellas and tapas. Rojales sits on the banks of the River Segura and makes up a stop on the Rio Segura walking and cycling route. It is easy to wander around Rojales as you always come back to the river, with its large waterwheel and friendly ducks! It has a town hall and tourist office, municipal outdoor swimming pool, the Teatro Capital theatre, a street market every Thursday morning, a viewing point from the iconic restored windmill, the Cuveas del Rodeo artists cave houses, the 18 hole La Marquesa Golf Course and the Parque Aquatico water park.
The village of San Miguel de Salinas sits on a hill above the pink Laguna de Torrevieja and offers impressive views over the countryside to this working lake with its salt piles. It is a quaint inland village with a traditional church square, town hall, tourist office, the Las Cuevas cave houses, a main high street, band stand, a municipal open air swimming pool for use during the summer and a busy street market every Wednesday morning.
Torre de Horadada is easily recognisable by its watchtower, which was built as part of the coastal communication system to warn of impending attacks by pirates. It has a large village square, a church, a couple of lovely sandy beaches, a quaint marina and a long promenade which joins the beaches of El Mojón to the south and Mil Palmeras to the north. Lots of activites, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, markets, water sports in the area. Torre de la Horadada is also one of the prettiest of the southern resorts with attractive coastline and seafront walks, numerous sandy beaches and sunny weather. Murcia Airport is a 15 minute drive and Alicante is a 45 minute drive.
The popular town of Torrevieja is situated along the coast to the south of Guardamar and La Mata. In recent years the town has become a favourite tourist and residential area, making it one of the leading resorts along the Mediterranean coastline. It has an excellent climate with year-round sunshine and an average daily temperature of 18 degrees C. There are marvellous coves in the northern part, as well as the saline swimming pools, which can be found beside the Juan Aparicio promenade right in the centre of the town. It is no wonder Torrevieja has been voted by the World Health Organisation as one of the healthiest places in the world to live. The reason for this is Torrevieja is surrounded by two of Europe’s largest salt lakes known as Laguna de la Mata and the Salinas de San Miguel. The high concentration of salt, together with the temperature forms what the experts call a "micro-climate" unique to this area and just a few others around the world. An ideal location for a summer or winter sun holiday with an average of 320 days sunshine each year. The area is regarded by the World Health Organisation as having the healthiest climate in Europe. Torrevieja has a busy marina, waterfront market, palm-lined promenades and a beautiful church square, as well as all the amenities one could desire - superb educational and healthcare facilities, shops, bars, restaurants, nightclubs, museums and parks, including a great water park - Something for everyone. All of the local beaches hold the European Blue Flag for ‘Clean Sea’ and excellent facilities. La Mata, Los Locos, El Cura, El Acequión and Los Náufragos together make up the beaches of the Torreviejan coast. It is an ideal place for family holidays and yet it still retains that special "Spanish" feel and is very relaxing and welcoming. 40 minutes south of Alicante airport.
Villamartin is situated inland from the beaches of Dehesa de Campoamor, Cabo Roig, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca and Punta Prima, although it is still included in the Orihuela Costa area. There are a number of commercial centres, the largest of which is the Villamartin Plaza. It is full of Spanish charm with its ceramic tiles, iron balconies and lamps and is a very popular dining destination. Added to these is the well establish 18 hole Villamartin golf course.At the heart of Villamartin is a central square, which boasts a bank, supermarket, a variety of shops, cafes bars and restaurants and two super golf courses. With over 300 days of sunshine every year, nearby sandy beaches, and a relaxed international lifestyle, Villamartin is a very popular holiday destination. Readily accessible from Alicante and Murcia San Javier airports (about a 30 minute drive from either) it makes an excellent base to explore the region.
